GEORGE TOWN: A 63-year-old man, who was annoyed by the delayed payment in compensation by UDA Holdings Bhd for its project in Tanjung Tokong, decided to take matters into his own hands by confronting Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng yesterday. The senior citizen who wanted to talk to the DAP secretary-general face-to-face on the matter, had loitered around the Komtar multi-storey car park the whole day.
After spending the entire day waiting, the man's wish was finally granted when Lim emerged from the lift and was on his way to his official car parked on the level two of the car park at about 7.20pm on Monday.
Seizing the opportunity, the man beat Lim to the driver's room on the same level and intercepted the chief minister.
He then tapped Lim on his left shoulder and started voicing his displeasure over the delayed compensation package to some 3,000 residents over the development project.
Lim was taken aback by the approach but regained his composure shortly to listen to the man's grouses.
He said that the project was under the purview of the Federal Government but offered to assist the residents with their compensation claims.
The man, whose identity was not immediately known, however, became annoyed over Lim's response and slapped a couch inside the room to vent his frustration before leaving the scene.
State police chief Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob confirmed the incident and vowed to do what the police could to protect the minister's safety.
"Our priority is to ensure the chief minister's well-being.
"We will investigate the matter," he said yesterday.
He added that the police would assist the Komtar security personnel to tighten the security measures in Komtar.
It was learnt that Lim would not lodge a police report on the incident. This is the first time that the chief minister had encountered such an incident. Berita lanjut : KLIK

3. Malas nak komen apa lagi. Tetapi tahniah le kepada LGE kerana menerima hadiah dari warga emas itu atas kebijaksanaannya menabur janji dan menfitnah rakyat dan kerajaan.
4. Kepada semua pemimpin, awas ! Ini juga mungkin terjadi kepada anda jka sekiranya tak menepati janji dan menipu rakyat serta asyik memfitnah sebaik membuka mata.
